. . .Region C Water Planning Group Includes Lake Ralph Hall in 50-Year Water Management Plan

Water testing for the vitility of the water supplyMay 24, 2005 - Unanimously and with solid support from the Members of Upper Trinity Regional Water District, Region C Water Planning Group voted yesterday to include Lake Ralph Hall in the regional water management plan. The water management plan covers: Denton, Dallas, Collin, and Fannin Counties plus 12 other counties, and addresses water supply needs for the next 50 years.

“We applaud Region C for including Lake Ralph Hall as a recommended strategy to meet the growing water needs of our region. To avoid a water shortfall within 25 years, Upper Trinity is working today to meet the needs of tomorrow’s families, and Lake Ralph Hall is an important part of our overall water management strategy,” said Thomas E. Taylor, Executive Director of Upper Trinity Regional Water District.

The 50-year Water Management Plan places an emphasis on water conservation and reuse, and to meet the needs of growing cities - - new reservoirs. Upper Trinity is working to ensure safe, reliable water for future generations. The Region C Plan will now be available for public review starting in June. Later in the year, Region C will complete the plan for submission to the Texas Water Development Board by January 2006.

“Lake Ralph Hall will provide a reliable water source for the families and cities who depend on Upper Trinity. We look forward to continuing to educate the public about the importance of a dependable water supply,” Taylor continued.

Lake Ralph Hall will provide approximately 30 million gallons of water per day for the Upper Trinity service area, the City of Ladonia and Fannin County. The Lake is also expected to generate approximately $18 billion dollars in economic benefits for the Upper Trinity service area, including $148 million in economic benefits for Fannin County.
